Dallas Cowboys Slammed For Partnership With Gun-Themed Coffee Brand Amid Rise In Gun Violence
The Dallas Cowboys were slammed on Twitter after the NFL team announced a partnership Tuesday with Black Rifle Coffee, a gun-themed coffee company.
Black Rifle Coffee has product names like "AK-47 Espresso,” “Silencer Smooth” and “Murdered Out.” The Cowboys' partnership with the brand comes amid several recent mass shootings across the U.S.
“#CowboysNation, please welcome America’s Coffee to America’s Team,” the Dallas Cowboys tweeted on Tuesday.

Twitter users immediately reacted to the partnership, with some fans of the team claiming the move will end their support.
“As a lifelong fan, this is as fine deaf as it gets. Will not watch one game until they change this,” one person commented. Another person said, “The Dallas Cowboys just lost one of their biggest fans. Integrity matters.”
“Maybe read the room a bit, guys,” another person responded.
Some believe the partnership timing does not add up with the recent May school shooting in their state in Uvalde where 19 students and two teachers died. The Cowboys had donated $400,000 to support these victims and survivors.
Black Rifle Coffee notes that its company name and product names are a part of its tribute to veterans and first responders.
“BRCC is proud to partner with the Dallas Cowboys, who are strongly committed to our mission of supporting veterans, first responders, and America’s men and women in uniform,” a Black Rifle spokesman said.
“The long-planned announcement was timed to coincide with the Independence Day holiday – America’s Team. America’s Coffee. America’s Birthday," they added.
One user tweeted that they agree with the Cowboys' decision and what Black Rifle Coffee Stands for. "God bless every veteran that ever carried a “black-riffle” [sp] to defend our freedom! The fact that anyone could be offended by this great veteran owned company is unbelievable. It’s a really great product too!"
But the overall sentiment has been negative for the Cowboys, the NFL's wealthiest team, which boasts a high number of fans throughout the nation.
Impeccable timing. Truly.

Guys. This was literally 6 weeks ago IN YOUR STATE, and there was a mass shooting YESTERDAY.
"T&Ps to Uvalde. So sad. Also, buy this black rifle coffee."https://t.co/rLtFxRHbW8
just 18 hours after multiple mass shootings on Independence Day, and just weeks after a bunch of kids were shot to death at a school in your state, you're partnering with this? pic.twitter.com/EVXrVLlilE

There are veteran owned coffee companies that don’t glorify guns that would be much better partners for ‘America’s Team.” Choose wisely @dallascowboys! ALL of your fans are watching, including children forced to practice active shooter drills.

This is incredibly disappointing and causes me to stop and consider after 25 years as a fan if I’m supporting the right team. Not sure I can keep giving the DC my money.
