Dallas Cowboys' Super Bowl Odds Aren't Among NFC's Best With Ezekiel Elliott Returning For Week 1
The Dallas Cowboys agreed to make Ezekiel Elliott the highest-paid running back in NFL history, reportedly signing him to a six-year, $90 million contract extension. With their best player returning to the team for the start of the 2019 season, Dallas could be a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
The Cowboys aren’t among the NFL favorites. Ten teams have better championship odds than Dallas, who has +2800 betting odds to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy in February, per New Jersey’s FanDuel Sportsbook.
The New Orleans Saints (+1150) and Los Angeles Rams (+1350) have the best title odds in the NFC. The Philadelphia Eagles (+1450) are essentially considered two times as likely to win the Super Bowl than Dallas.
Philadelphia is favored to finish ahead of the Cowboys in the NFC East. Dallas won the division last year.
The Chicago Bears (+2200) and Green Bay Packers (+2200) also have better Super Bowl odds than the Cowboys in the NFC.
Dallas has +1200 odds to win the conference, putting them just ahead of the Minnesota Vikings (+1300), Atlanta Falcons (+1500) and Seattle Seahawks (+1500). It’s been 24 years since the Cowboys even reached the NFC Championship Game.
With a loss in the 2019 divisional playoffs to Los Angeles, Dallas fell just short of making it to last season’s conference title game.
No NFC team has been more consistent in the regular season than the Cowboys since they took Elliott and Dak Prescott in the 2016 draft. The two stars have led Dallas to an NFC-best 32-16 record over the last three years.
The 2015 season is the only time during the last eight seasons that the Cowboys finished below .500.
Elliott and Prescott both made the Pro Bowl in 2016 and 2018. Elliott has led the NFL in rushing yards per game in all three of his seasons.
Dallas is favored by seven points over the New York Giants in Week 1, according to the latest betting line at OddsShark.
