Dallas Shopping Mall Shooting: One Injured As Gunman Opens Fire, Suspect Still At Large
Police were looking for the suspect after one person was shot inside a shopping mall in Dallas on Tuesday.
The Dallas Police Department was investigating the shooting which took place at around 6:45 p.m. local time (7:45 p.m. EDT) at the Galleria Dallas shopping mall.
According to Melinda Gutierrez, Police Senior Corporal, the injured man was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital. The condition of the victim was not immediately known. The identity of the person was not revealed.
The mall was evacuated and officers were reviewing security footage to identify the suspect. They also made a store-by-store search of the mall in search of the shooter.
“One person was shot inside of the Galleria Mall. The suspect is currently at large at this time. DFR transported the complainant to Parkland Hospital, unknown condition. Officers are reviewing the video cameras and searching the mall for the suspect. Not an active shooter case,” the Dallas Police mentioned in a statement on Twitter.
According to the police, there was no active shooter situation. Police revealed that the shooting took place inside the mall’s food court following an altercation between two males in their teens or early 20s, who were believed to have known each other.
According to The Dallas Morning News, a witness, identified as 23-year-old Sabrena Moore, said she heard several gunshots while she was shopping on the second floor of the mall.
“I started running toward the fire escape, because that’s the nearest exit that I saw,” she said. She added that she and several other people took a freight elevator that led to the parking garage where she saw a wounded man.
No other injuries were reported and the suspect was still at large. The case was still under investigation. No further information was available at the time.
