Dan Abrams Acknowledges 'Live PD' Cancellation, But Instead Gives A Different Update
Since being canceled earlier this year, fans of A&E's "Live PD" have wondered whether or not new episodes of the police-centered reality show would ever return. As those who previously tuned in continue to question what's to come for the series, host Dan Abrams has shared information about a different show on the network.
On Thursday, Abrams, who also serves as Chief Legal Affairs anchor for ABC News, took to Twitter to reveal that Season 2 of Court Cam is on the way.
"While I don't have answers yet on the big question so many of you are asking, I can tell you that the premiere of season 2 of #CourtCam is on tonight at 10p!" he wrote, as seen in the tweet below.
Following January's announcement that "Court Cam" had been renewed, Elaine Frontain Bryant, EVP and head of programming, A&E Network, shared her thoughts about the Law & Crime-produced series. Calling it a "prime example of the type of eye-opening programming that A&E strives to deliver," she added that the network was looking forward to continuing their working relationship with Abrams, as reported by Deadline.
News of the show's renewal likely did not come as a surprise to some as Season 1 became the no. 1 cable show on Thursday nights among adults 25-54. Throughout the eight episodes, it also earned over 2 million viewers per installment.
However, as Abrams mentioned in his recent tweet, his followers may instead be more interested in updates regarding the future of "Live PD." After being pulled from the air amid national protests surrounding police brutality and racial issues, Abrams gave conflicting reports about what was down the road for the show that featured Sean "Sticks" Larkin, Tom Morris Jr., and others.
Following the cancellation of "Cops," the host assured fans that the "Live PD" team remained "committed to it as ever" prior to the official decision being made to terminate the show. After the news emerged that it would not be returning, others then offered a glimmer of hope as they stated they believe it could come back in six months or a year if a variety of changes are made.
