'Dancing With The Stars' 2014 Spoilers: Watch The Dance That Got Lolo Jones Eliminated In Season 19
Let the competition begin! “Dancing with the Stars” eliminated the first Season 19 couple last night during the Tuesday, Sept. 16, live results show. And if you happened to catch the 2014 premiere of the hit ABC dance-competition series, then you probably weren’t too surprised to see who went home.
Olympic athlete Lolo Jones and her pro partner Keo Motsepe, a newcomer on “DWTS,” were eliminated after the couple received a 22 out of 40 for their poorly executed cha-cha.
“Lolo, that was more like an uh-oh,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said to the athlete. Jones explained that the beginning of her routine threw her off when a text message from the intro didn’t pop up at the right time.
“It was awful; I’m surprised I was able to get back on. Every practice was better than that. I am so mad,” Jones said, clearly disappointed with her performance. “I honestly expected them to give me ones.”
Despite her off-beat routine, judge Len Goodman managed to find the silver lining of Jones’ performance. “You lost your way near the beginning. It’s just one of those things: You come out and sometimes it just goes great, sometimes not so good. But don’t get down on yourself, because I’m telling you I thought you came out, you had personality and a bit of sizzle going on. So, it’s not all bad. Well done,” he complimented.
Jones wasn’t the only one with issues in her routine. Fashion icon Betsey Johnson had a tussle with a feathery boa during the very last moments of her cha-cha, giving the designer and her partner Tony Dovolani the lowest score of the night, a 20 out of 40.
However, because elimination isn't based solely on scores, it was Jones who was the first celebrity to be sent home during Season 19 of “DWTS.”
"I wouldn't have had it any other way. I know Betsey had the malfunction with the boa and she deserves to stay," Jones said to “DWTS” co-host Erin Andrews.
