‘Dancing With The Stars’ 2016 Spoilers: Week 1 Songs And Dances Revealed; What To Expect From Season 22 Premiere
ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” is returning Monday with a new group of celebrities vying for the chance to win the Season 22 Mirror Ball trophy. During the two-hour premiere, viewers will see each of the couples hit the dance floor performing either a foxtrot, cha-cha, tango, quickstep or jive.
As previously reported, pro dancer and Season 19 winner Witney Carson and her celebrity partner, the Denver Broncos’ Von Miller, will dance the foxtrot. During an interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Carson teased that they didn’t get a typical foxtrot song but she said the performance is “going to be good.”
TV Line recently revealed the full list of songs and dances, and it looks like Carson and Miller will be sashaying across the ballroom to Flo Rida’s “My House.” They aren’t the only ones who will be dancing to pop songs.
Pro Artem Chigvintsev and his partner, actress Mischa Barton, will dance the tango to the Weeknd’s “In the Night,” while Sharna Burgess and football player Antonio Brown will do the quickstep to “Bad Man” by Pitbull. Viewers will also see Peta Murgatroyd and model-actor Nyle DiMarco bust a few moves dancing the cha-cha to “Cake by the Ocean” by DNCE, and watch as “Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” Kim Fields and her partner, Sasha Farber, dance the cha-cha to Fleur East’s upbeat “Sax.”
Geraldo Rivera and Edyta Śliwińska will also tackle the cha-cha to “Treasure” by Bruno Mars, while Lindsay Arnold and singer Wanya Morris will take on the same popular dance to his group Boyz II Men’s song “Motownphilly.”
“Fuller House” actress Jodie Sweetin, who teased her routine last week with partner Keo Motsepe, will dance the tango to Demi Lovato’s “Confident.” Both former quarterback Doug Flutie, with partner Karina Smirnoff, and Paige VanZant, with partner Mark Ballas, will perform the foxtrot. Flutie’s routine will be set to Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline,” while VanZant’s is to Jess Glynne’s “Ain’t Got Far to Go.”
Rounding out the Week 1 performances are Marla Maples and Ginger Zee. Maples, the former wife of Donald Trump who’s been cast with Tony Dovolani, was given the quickstep to “Sparkling Diamonds” from the “Moulin Rouge” soundtrack, and “Good Morning America's” Zee and Val Chmerkovskiy will dance the jive to “Move” from “Dreamgirls.”
As previously reported, pro dancer Derek Hough will sit out this season along with his sister Julianne Hough, who served as judge. That means veteran judge Len Goodman is back and will be critiquing the performances with Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews will also be back to host the dance competition show.
“Dancing With the Stars” Season 22 premieres Monday at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
