It appears that some of the “format changes” that have been teased in regards to the upcoming season of “Dancing With the Stars,” might have been revealed, and they are ones that fans of the ABC series may be fond of.

Longtime show host Tom Bergeron took to Twitter earlier this week to share some updates fans may enjoy, hinting that after many felt the voting system on the show led to unfair results throughout Season 27, the show will be re-tooling how it handles the results.

“Just had first meeting re: Season 28 of @DancingABC. Major takeaway, we hear you #DWTS,” he posted on the social media site.

As fans asked him for more details, Bergeron went on to hint further that it had to do with the voting system, specifically after a fan discussed how they felt the way voting worked on “Dancing With the Stars: Juniors” was a better way of doing things.

“To do the second thing requires initially doing the first thing,” he responded.

In addition, he further hinted that while the voting system at the time meant that Season 27 champ Bobby Bones did win the competition fair and square, that it would be different going forward.

“As I’ve often pointed out, @mrBobbyBones won fair & square based on the voting rules of the show at that time,” he tweeted.

His comments hint that the backlash the show faced after Bones’ win was severe enough for them to consider changing the system. The show had a voting system in place which gave equal weight to the scores presented by the judges at the end of a couple’s routine and the votes placed by the viewers at home. During Season 27 however, fans felt the system failed talented performers like Juan Pablo di Pace, who was eliminated in the semifinals, and Tinashe, who was eliminated earlier in the competition, while “Bachelor in Paradise” star Joe Amabile made it to the semifinals. Similarly, fans were mad when Bones, who had improved throughout the competition but danced less well than his fellow finalists Alexis Ren, Milo Manheim and Evanna Lynch, won.

How the changes may apply remains to be seen, but fans will find out when the new season premieres this Fall.
