‘Dancing With The Stars’ Contestants Throw Val Chmerkovskiy Surprise Birthday Bash; Details On His Wild Party
Looks like “Dancing with the Stars” pro Val Chmerkovskiy had a very happy birthday! On Tuesday, the singer celebrated turning 29 with his “DWTS” family surrounding him – including both his current and former partners from the hit ABC series.
That’s right, Rumer Willis and Zendaya Coleman (Val’s leading ladies from Season 20 and Season 16) came together to throw their friend a hip-shaking bash. And from the looks of Val’s Instagram, this party definitely deserved a perfect score from the judges!
“Thank you to all my friends for pulling me away from work against my will ([because] I’m a Grinch) and giving me an incredible birthday experience, proving once again why I’m the luckiest man on earth,” the dancer captioned a photo from his wild night on Instagram. In the picture a wide-eyed Val can be seen surrounded by celebratory sparklers in honor of his big day.
People magazine reported that the surprise party was held at Aventine Trattoria in Hollywood, California. "When he walked in the door at 8:30, everyone shouted 'Happy birthday!'" a party guest dished to People. "They all ran up to give him a hug and show their love for him on his special day."
Curious what kind of shenanigans went down during dancer’s birthday bash? Well, attendees sipped on customized Cîroc vodka cocktails named “The Valentine” (after the birthday boy himself) as well as snacked on yummy treats like margarita pizzas, mini meatballs and gnocchi. The celebrators then shook it out on the dance floor to the beat of old-school tunes, People magazine added.
The night concluded with everyone joining in to sing “Happy Birthday” to the man of the hour, which was followed by the presentation of a tiramisu cake. “He had the best night,” a partygoer told the magazine.
A day after Val’s big night, Zendaya took to Instagram to share the love she had for the man who helped her win second place in the 2013 ABC dance competition series. “Didn’t post anything yesterday cause I wanted a bigger surprise effect last night,” she began. “I’m not [going] to write [three] pages and get all sappy [because] I would look like a dork but just know I love you. Happy birthday to my ace.”
Rumer also paid tribute to her current partner, revealing in a sentimental Instagram post how “blessed and grateful” she is to be dancing with him in the 2015 series. “You are an incredible person inside and out and I am glad I can call you my friend and partner. Happy Birthday,” she concluded.
Rumer and Val will compete in Week 3 of the competition on ABC when “Dancing with the Stars” airs Monday, March 30, at 8 p.m. EDT.
