‘Dancing With The Stars’ Injuries: Will Normani Kordei Finish The Competition?
Another injury has struck the “Dancing With the Stars” Season 24 cast. This time, it’s a celebrity struggling to move through the pain.
Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei revealed in Week 7 that competing on the show had taken a toll on her body. It wasn’t until a later interview with Us Weekly that she revealed the severity of her injuries. In addition to having a “severe strain,” Normani’s doctor’s warned her that dancing could make it worse — but she’s not letting it stop her.

“I’m on medication, and I just have to pace myself and take things step by step,” she said. “[The doctor] literally told me if I keep going at the rate that I’m going that I could crack my hip, which I don’t want. I have three weeks left of the competition and it’s, like, so close, but so far. I just have to play it smart.”
It doesn’t appear her injuries have had any effect on her ability to dance, though she’s in a significant amount of pain. On Monday, she and Val Chmerkovskiy performed a foreign film-themed Argentine Tango. The routine garnered them a perfect score of 40 out of 40, leaving them safe from elimination.
Although Team Valmani was spared, the other teams faced a dance-off followed by a double elimination. Team Golden Giggles (Sasha Farber and Simone Biles) went up against Team Blades of Glory (Artem Chigvintsev and Nancy Kerrigan) performing a Cha Cha, Team Shad Squad (Emma Slater and Rashad Jenning) faced off against Team Lady and the Gramp (Lindsay Arnold and David Ross) doing the Jive, while Team Baby got Bach (Peta Murgatroyd and Nick Viall) and Team Denim N Diamonds (Sharna Burgess and Bonner Bolton) Rumbaed for their lives.
At the end of Week 7 another shocking elimination rocked the cast. Hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews announced that Team Lady and the Gramp, Team Blades of Glory and Team Baby Got Bach were in the bottom three. Lindsay and David were ultimately chosen to continue on in the competition, which surprised a majority of “DWTS” fans.
After getting the axe from the show, Nick and Nancy took to Instagram to reflect on their time on the show. Both were extremely grateful to their coaches for being patient and helping them reach new heights in dancing. The eliminated celebrities seemed sad to see their time on “DWTS” come to a close, though both made it further than they may have expected.
While the double elimination left some aghast, it wasn’t the first major blow to the Season 24 cast. In Week 6, after returning from nursing an injury of his own, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Heather Morris were eliminated. Their exit from the cast was unexpected, especially after the pair earned the first perfect score of Season 24.
“DWTS” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
