Dancing with the Stars spoilers
Who were the "Dancing with the Stars" celebrities paired up with during week 4? Dancing with the Stars

“Dancing with the Stars” pulled the old switcheroo on fans Monday night when our favorite celebrities were temporarily paired up with new partners. That’s right! Just when the stars of the hit ABC series started getting comfortable in their dancing shoes, “DWTS” threw a curveball at the couples by creating havoc on the ballroom floor.

“This is a real testament to see if the stars can adapt,” guest judge Julianne Hough said of the switchup in episode 4. “It’s brutal.”

Although this was an elimination-free week, Monday night's show still played a crucial factor in whether the couples would be safe for week 5.

Candace & Tony: The two danced the quickstep to “Ballroom Blitz” during their routine. Although the two had great energy, the judges critiqued the star, telling Candace she needs to make more body contact for the sake of her routines.

Total: 28/40 (60/80)

James & Cheryl: The duo danced the tango to Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” for their performance.

“You’re the total package!” Julianne said after their debut as a new couple. “There’s always the hot guy who takes off their shirt. But they can only go so far. You have dedication, technique and passion.”

James was told he can get a “little squatty” at times but “maybe Peta can help you with tucking your package in next week,” Julianne quipped.

Total: 35/40 (71/80)

Drew & Whitney: “It’s like ‘Dancing with my Daughter,’” Drew joked about shaking in on the dance floor with the young performer. Despite their age difference, the two had great chemistry as they rocked a spunky version of the cha-cha.

“You’re a splendid and confident sugar daddy!” Bruno Tonioli said before comparing Drew to a mix between Elvis Presley and Liberace.

Total: 33/40 (63/80)

Danica & Maksim : Danica kept it in the family when she traded in one Chmerkovskiy brother or another. The actress thought the siblings would be similar in dancing techniques, but boy was she wrong! “Val explains everything where Mak is like, ‘Just do it.’”

The two performed a fun little jive-inspired routine, but the judges thought the silly choreography didn’t expose Danica’s true potential. Julianne put it the harshest, saying she thought Mak was just breathing through the week so he could get back to Meryl. He obviously believed otherwise.

“I take every dance as my last,” he said. “I tried my best.”

Total: 32/40 (68/80)

Charlie and Peta: What a giggly duo these two were! But once the blond beauties stepped foot onto the ballroom floor to perform the rumba, they put the laughter aside to wow fans with their stunning moves. But not everyone was impressed with their majestic performance.

“Was it a rumba?” Len Goodman asked. “Not in my world!” The judge criticized that there was no hip action in the routine, but Peta begged to differ.

Total: 33/40 (69/80)

Amy & Mark: We were blown away with this salsa-dancing couple. And so were the judges!

“You continue to astonish me,” Bruno said. The eccentric judge added that the amount of footwork Mark choreographed for Amy was truly tremendous.

Carrie Ann Inaba added that Mark allowed Amy to shine on her own this night, leaving her exposed.

“But with vulnerability comes strength,” Julianne said.

Total: 34/40 (70/80)

Cody & Sharna: This was a tough week for Cody. Not because he didn’t thrive in the foxtrot with his new partner but because Sharna didn’t take any of his fooling around during practice. And it totally paid off! The couple swayed to the sounds of Jason Mraz during their easy breezy routine.

“Your hold has improved,” Carrie Ann said. “You looked more confident.”

Total: 31/40 (66/80)

NeNe & Derek: We absolutely adored this new couple! The duo danced a jazz routine to the vivacious beat of Beyoncé’s “Grown Woman.”

“Every girl wants to let their inner Beyoncé come out,” Julianne said. Len described this as NeNe’s best dance all season!

Total: 32/40 (63/80)

Meryl & Val: These two performed the dance of the night—and maybe even of the season in our books! The duo rocked the tango, which just so happened to be Mak’s favorite dance.

“I would love to dance like you,” Julianne confessed after the two put on a performance of a lifetime.

“Seductive,” Bruno said. “You are two magical instruments.”

Carrie Ann added that the couple is in a class of their own. “Untouchable,” she gushed.

Total: 39/40 (78/80)
