Daniel Cormier To Join WWE? 'The Miz' Says Success Won’t Come Easy In Ring

The word is ripe that former UFC champion Daniel Cormier is contemplating moving on to the WWE. Though he has done commentary in mixed martial arts, D.C. is also known as a huge WWE fan. Hence, a move to the promotion he loves would make sense.

The timing could not have come at a better time. He officially retired after losing to Stipe Miocic at UFC 252. Since then, the 41-year-old former heavyweight champion has been doing commentary. Now that he has time to spare, Cormier could fulfill that wish of doing commentary for the WWE.

The first time talks were held between Cormier and the WWE, both sides failed to agree to a schedule. That was understandable with D.C. committed to fighting and more. But now, it seems that they are communicating again and the possibility of seeing the former double champion doing WWE commentary is high, Sports Illustrated reported in September.

“Let me call the matches for six months and tell you how great these wrestlers are in the ring. I would love that, and I wouldn’t be faking it. WWE is something I’ve loved my entire life,” Cormier said.

However, like other WWE commentators, it cannot be discounted that Cormier could one day find himself entering the ring. Mixed martial arts making the shift to the WWE is nothing new. There is Ken Shamrock and Ronda Rousey to take into consideration.

And if that is the case, WWE star “The Miz” told Cormier that he will have to earn his keep. It won’t be an easy transition and not many have succeeded in such a move. Hence, there is a chance that the plans of D.C. may not pan out, TMZ Sports reported.

"Not many people are able to do it. Not many people can be as successful as Ronda Rousey was, which she came in and really did a tremendous job just acclimating to our style of professional wrestling," The Miz said. "Honestly, it's one of the hardest jobs I've ever seen in entertainment because it's life, it's in your face, it's athleticism, it's entertainment."

Though he is a WWE follower, Cormier will have to do a lot to be successful in another niche. Commentary is a good start but getting physically involved is another matter he needs to consider and work for.
