Daniel Craig Recalls Being Terrified After Breaking Dave Bautista’s Nose During ‘Spectre’

Eon Films might have made James Bond look like someone who tackles dangerous adventures head-on, but Daniel Craig, the man who plays the British secret agent in the upcoming 007 movie, is like the rest of mere mortals.

Craig recently admitted how terrified he was after he accidentally broke Dave Bautista's nose during a fight scene during the filming of “Spectre."

The 53-year-old actor opened up about the incident on “The Graham Norton Show” ahead of the theatre premiere of his final Bond movie “No Time To Die.” During the interview, Craig was asked to recall some of the worst injuries he sustained while shooting his Bond films over the years.

He recalled breaking the big bad Bautista’s nose who played his foe, Mr. Hinx, in the movie. “I threw a punch and hit him on the nose,” Craig said. “I heard this crack and I was like ‘Oh God no’ and ran away. I thought he was going to come after me, but he was so sweet,” the actor continued.

Bautista took the punch like a champ, and according to Craig, reset his nose and was ready to continue filming. “He’s a lot tougher than I am. I’ll give him that,” Craig said.

Well, the scales were eventually balanced out in the next fight sequence, where Bautista’s Mr. Hinx throws Craig against a wall. Initially, the Bond actor felt Bautista was being “gentle” with him and asked him to be rougher, but that resulted in a knee injury, halting the production for a while.

Craig suffered yet another injury during the filming of “No Time To Die” as he broke his ankle “literally walking down a plank.”

Talking about his successor, Craig also admitted that he would probably feel bitter toward his successor as he had been Bond for the last 15years.

“It’s been incredible to do these films,” Craig said. “It’s very emotional. I’m glad I am ending it on my own terms. I’m grateful to the producers for letting me do that. But I sure miss it. I’ll probably be incredibly bitter when the new person takes over,” the actor said.

Since this is Craig’s last Bond movie, speculations have begun as to who will replace the suave agent. But James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli wants Craig to have his moment and not steal his spotlight by announcing the new Bond.

“Oh, God no,” said Broccoli on BBC Radio 4’s popular "Today" program. “We’re not thinking about it at all. We want Daniel to have his time of celebration. Next year, we’ll start thinking about the future,” the producer said.
