Daniel Radcliffe: Typecasting Not a Problem in Post-Potter Success
No typecasting here.
Daniel Radcliffe has landed yet another role that is sure to set him apart from the Potter franchise. The actor's upcoming roles are a far cry from wizardry. Radcliffe will play a young lawyer in the upcoming ghost story, The Woman in Black, in theatres Feb. 3. He will follow that up with a role as a world-famous Beat poet. Should James Franco be looking over his shoulder?
The 22-year-old Radcliffe will play Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings, the indie flick about a real-life murder mystery involving the founding Beat Generation writers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
While rumors have been swirling since last fall that Radcliffe was in in talks for the project, the actor had stopped shy of confirming his participation in the film, which co-stars Elizabeth Olsen, Dane DeHaan and Jack Huston.
Considered to be quite the thriller, Kill Your Darlings tells the true story of a murder committed by Lucien Carr - a friend of Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs - in New York in 1944, and is set to be directed by Newcomer John Krokidas.
I'm very, very enthused for that script and that young director, Radcliffe recently told MTV News, before his involvement was confirmed.
The young actor just wrapped his nearly yearlong stint on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Perhaps Radcliffe's secret to success is working nonstop on carefully considered projects -- as it seems that he has as overcome the plague that has captured the careers of many young stars.
