Danielle Bernstein tested positive for COVID-19 despite taking precautionary measures. But many blamed her on Twitter because for them, she wasn’t careful enough after spending the summer gallivanting in the Hamptons.
Bernstein confirmed over the weekend that she tested positive for coronavirus in an Instagram Story. The social media influencer has been quarantining in her apartment in New York City after the diagnosis. While some were supportive of Bernstein many also blamed her for contracting the disease because according to them, she spent the summer partying in the Hamptons, Page Six reported
"Danielle bernstein getting covid is exactly what she deserves after partying all summer in the hamptons," one wrote on Twitter.
"That’s the most infuriating part.. she partied all summer and then when it wasn’t convenient to be in the Hamptons anymore she brought the virus to the city with her," another added.
"Not danielle bernstein being out and about ALL summer in the hamptons going back and forth to the city and her apartment only to now have covid?? this is why I hate influencers," @kaalyia wrote.
"Danielle Bernstein taking minimal Covid measures, constantly partying and now getting Covid lol...... can’t stand her," @fionaaplefan tweeted.
Meanwhile, Bernstein defended herself in her Instagram Stories from the criticisms. She stressed that she followed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and wore a mask when necessary. Also, she "lived life in phase FOUR reopening of NY."
"Small groups, dining out, all of it is currently allowed. Guidelines are there to help us, but they are clearly not bullet proof," she wrote as quoted by Page Six.
"Of course I could have been more careful and still got it… the virus is still very much here and I will be taking it even more seriously going forward.”
In another post in her Instagram Stories, Bernstein said she woke up without her sense of taste and smell. Also, her body was extremely sore, particularly her legs and hips.
She was trying to stay hydrated and has been taking Tylenol. She asked her followers if they have any other home recommendation to ease the pain. She was also thankful that the few people she met including her roommates tested negative from COVID-19 so far.
