Daphne Oz Exits ‘The Chew’ After Season 6; ABC Not Replacing Her?
Daphne Oz is saying goodbye to ABC’s cooking talk show, “The Chew.”
On Friday, Oz posted a photo of herself with her “The Chew” co-hosts Mario Batali, Michael Symon, Carla Hall and Clinton Kelly on Instagram. In the snap, they are seated around the table, sharing a laugh. She revealed in her caption for the photo that she has decided to leave the talk show and thanked their viewers for their support.
“It has been an incredible 6 seasons with the @abcthechew crew, and I am honored to always be a part of this wild family of 5!” she wrote in the caption. “Thank you for being the BEST audience, and for spending your lunch time with me courtesy ABC/Lorenzo Bevilaqua.”

While many were taken by surprise by Oz’s announcement, some were not shocked as they took her absences in the last season as a hint of her impending departure. Other viewers noticed that Oz did not seem happy during her time on the show. “I’m not surprised you leaving you weren’t there so much last year you didn’t look like you were happy, it looked like the Carla and Clinton show,” one follower commented on her post. “I’m so happy for you im really going to miss you good luck in everything.”
Although Oz has already announced her departure from “The Chew,” she will still appear in the cooking-themed daytime talk show through August. She and ABC agreed that she would leave before the Season 7 premiere on Sept. 5, making the Season 6 finale her last appearance on the show, TV Line reported.
For now, the network has no plans of replacing Oz. “She is one of the greatest natural broadcasters I have ever worked with,” said “The Chew” creator and executive producer Gordon Elliot (via TV Line). “The moment she sat at the table with Mario, Clinton, Michael and Carla, I knew we had a great television show. Her chemistry, honesty and intelligence are her trademarks, and they will stand with her wherever she goes.”
Oz joined “The Chew” during its first season back in 2011. She brings her healthy-living perspective to the table and shares her recipe ideas from her cookbooks, “The Dorm Diet” and “The Happy Cook.”
It is still unclear what prompted Oz to leave the talk show, but there are speculations that the reason could be her pregnancy. Oz is expecting her third child with husband John Jovanovic. She is also busy with Food Network’s “Cooks vs. Cons,” E! News reported.
