It's been three years since the last Batman flick "The Dark Knight" hit theaters, and fans will have to wait one more year for "The Dark Knight Rises." The sure-to-be blockbuster success hits the big screen in the summer of 2012 (IMDB has it listed as a July release date).

Over the weekend, French actress Marion Cotillard ("Inception"), who plays Miranda Tate in "The Dark Knight Rises" was seen filming in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

Other actors who star in the film along Cotillard are Batman alumni Christian Bale and Gary Oldman, and newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt ("3rd Rock From The Sun") and Anne Hathaway ("The Devil Wears Prada").

On July 29, production of the film kicked off on the streets of Pittsburg, where fans lined the streets outside St. Paul Cathedral Rectory in Oakland.

"The welcoming attitude of the people, along with Pittsburgh's beautiful architecture and city streets, will bring enormous production value to "The Dark Knight Rises," " said Christopher Nolan, director, writer, producer, "The Dark Knight Rises." "I'm very much looking forward to spending some time here."

"We are thrilled to welcome Warner Bros., and the cast and crew of "The Dark Knight Rises" to our city," said Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, City of Pittsburgh. "It's an honor to have this major production in our area, and another shining example of how the film industry will make a significant impact by showcasing the arts and culture of our community."

The Pittsburg postgazette.com wrote, "On 41st Street between Butler and Foster streets, director Christopher Nolan was on-site to oversee the film's first day of shooting in Pittsburgh. Under his watchful eye, dozens of cargo-short clad staffers converted picturesque row house No. 170 into the home of a Gotham City judge, played by Brett Cullen.

"Ms. Cotillard braved the heat in leather boots and a navy wool pea-coat, which she quickly shed at the end of the take, while Mr. Gordon-Levitt was lucky enough to film in shirtsleeves."

MTV reports, "The Dark Knight Rises" has officially begun, with the production expected to span three continents, from India, Scotland and England to Pittsburgh, New York and Los Angeles." Read full story HERE.

The film's director, Christopher Nolan, and the crew have remained extremely tight-lipped about any details surrounding the film's plot, actors, and costumes.

Hathaway, who will be appearing as Catwoman, has not let a single detail of her suit escape her lips. But, a source told the Huffington Post, "Anne's outfit is more tactical, like the comic book, than the previous Batman movies. She will definitely be wearing the goggles and it's going to be less sexy than Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman costumes.

"She's going to look more like a robber... But fan boys shouldn't be worried. This costume is going to be form-fitting enough to make Anne look smoking hot."

Hathaway's preparation for her role includes a five-day work out regime, the star told Hapers Bazaar.

"I've always thought that skinny was the goal, but with this job I also have to be strong," the actress said.

When "The Dark Knight Trailer" initially hit the Internet in late July, fans flocked to sites such as YouTube to see what the latest film has in store for its fans, but the trailer left a lot to be desired. Also released in July was a teaser poster, which again, didn't tease very much.
