Dating App Happn Hooks Up With Spotify For Musical Matchmaking
Dating app Happn is officially joining forces with Spotify so users can send music to each other and share their favorite songs on their profiles. The announcement was made on Thursday and the list of top 10 songs sent should prove interesting.
Happn is a localized dating app that helps users discover people they have encountered in real life (think walking down the street) and provides a platform to connect. The app launched in early 2014 in Paris and now has 4 million global users in more than 20 major cities.
Every time users pass another Happn user on the street, their profile appears in the app, giving them the ability to send a song instead of spending hours trying to think of the perfect first message.
“Music is such a powerful form of expression that is intrinsically linked to our personalities,” said Happn co-founder and CEO Didier Rappaport, in a statement.
“This new Spotify feature provides our users with a unique experience that really allows them to showcase who they are in a more emotive way, beyond just words and images. The ability to send and listen to music will enable our users to get to know others on a more personal level that no one else currently offers,” Rappaport continued.
Spotify will be automatically added to every Happn user’s profile, regardless of whether they subscribe to Spotify. Nonsubscribers can hear 30 seconds' worth of a track, while Spotify Premium members can play the whole song.
Our predictions for the top 10 songs sent include Sam Smith’s "Stay With Me" and Taylor Swift’s "Our Song." What do you think?
Let us know in the comments which songs you think will actually work best for breaking the ice.
