Daughter Takes Father Out To Dinner, Gets Him Drunk Before Burning Him Alive

A woman has allegedly set her father on fire after she took him out to dinner and got him drunk.

The incident happened in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal on Sunday night. The police arrested 22-year-old Piyali Auddy of Kolkata for killing her 56-year-old father Biswanath after having dinner with him.

The woman reportedly got her father drunk during dinner and took him out for a walk. Biswanath fell asleep while he sat on a bench talking to his daughter. Auddy reportedly poured kerosene on him then set him on fire while he was asleep, reported local news outlet Times Of India.

Auddy was arrested after her uncle had reported the incident to the cops.

According to the police, Auddy confessed to murdering her father. The incident was captured on CCTV.

"During interrogation, she claimed that after her mother died when she was a child, her father started physically assaulting her and also used to torture her emotionally. However, it stopped after she got married. But, as her marriage broke off and she returned home, the torture started again," a senior police officer said as per Hindustan Times.

Auddy told the police that Biswanath had often beaten her up after getting drunk.

"The accused has told us that she was being mentally and physically tortured by her father. There are however still a few gaps in her story," Murilidhar Sharma, commissioner of police, said. "We are in the process of verifying her statements, and do not want to comment on the motive right now."

Police sources said Auddy had pre-planned the murder. She managed to convince Biswanath to tag along with her to meet a friend at a party where alcohol and food would be abundant. She reportedly told the rest of the family that she was unwell and was going to a hospital on Sunday.

Auddy has been taken into police custody and will stay there until March 29.

In a similar incident in January, a woman from the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh set her 55-year-old father on fire after he had objected to her relationship. The man suffered 50 percent burn. He was taken to the hospital and was in critical condition, Times Now News said in a report.
