Dave Chappelle Confirms Celebrities Left Trump Staff ‘Dirty Notes’ After Obama Left White House

Comedian Dave Chappelle has seemingly confirmed the rumor suggesting Barack Obama’s administration left “dirty notes” in the White House for Donald Trump’s staff.

The rumor began in 2019 when Trump’s press secretary Stephanie Grisham claimed the new administration found mean notes from Obama’s staff that had messages like “you will fail” and “you aren’t going to make it,” Huff Post reports.

However, during an appearance on Naomi Campbell’s YouTube series “No Filter,” Chappelle revealed it was actually celebrities who wrote those unkind notes.

“Remember when the Trump administration moved in, they said the Obama staff left dirty notes for us in all the drawers and all the cabinets? I saw this happening. I’m not going to say who did it. But it was celebrities,” he explained.

Chappelle claimed stars were writing “crazy” messages and leaving them for the incoming administration to see. “I saw them doing it, so when I saw it on the news, I laughed real hard,” the comedian said.

During a 2019 appearance on the John Fredericks Show, Grisham claimed she and all of her colleagues found discouraging messages left by Obama’s aides.

“When we came into the White House, I’ll tell you something, every office was filled with Obama books, and we had notes left behind that said ‘You will fail’, ‘You aren’t going to make it’,” she said at the time.

“In the press office, there was a big note taped to a door that said that ‘You will fail.’”

However, Grisham later backtracked her comments after Obama staff members spoke out denying the allegation, The Guardian reported. “[I] certainly wasn’t implying every office had that issue,” Grisham stated.

“I was talking specifically (and honestly) about our experience in the lower press office – nowhere else. I don’t know why everyone is so sensitive!”
