He has already gloated to anyone who will listen about the fact that he won the mayoral election and is not in charge in town, and even threatened what his first actions would be. Now, after being sworn in, Jack will quickly live up to the promises he made and make a stunning first decision as the most powerful man in Salem on the Tuesday, May 21 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Not long after winning his new position, Jack (Matthew Ashford) quickly informed Hope (Kristian Alfonso) she was going to be fired as police commissioner the minute he took office, something she didn’t fight since she figured her days would be numbered on the NBC soap with Abe (James Reynolds) no longer in charge. However, after officially removing her from her post, Jack will shock everyone when he reveals who will be filling in for her instead.

“Jack makes a surprising move with his first appointment as mayor,” spoilers reveal.

A preview clip for the week’s episodes shows that he will be putting his wife, Eve (Kassie DePaiva) in charge, a move that is not only shocking because she has no experience in police work, but something that could prove dangerous to several people in town whom she holds a grudge with. In fact, it appears she is already going to make moves to try and tear down the man who murdered her daughter a few years back, even though Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) is not the same man he was when he was the Red Necktie Killer.

“Ben has a tense run-in with Eve,” spoilers state.

There will also be issues with her being in such a powerful position as well when it comes to Haley (Thia Megia) and JJ (Casey Moss) being on the run from immigration, as well as the fact that she knows another huge secret someone else in town is hiding. She is the only person who knows Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) set the cabin fire that almost killed Ciara (Victoria Konefal) last summer, and if Claire tries to provoke her in any way, it could lead to her own downfall.

With Eve and Jack officially holding the two most powerful positions in town, the consequences of what they plan to do could affect Salem’s residents for years to come.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
