‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Nicole And Eric Work On An Attempt To Escape Xander

Her previous attempt to escape her captor failed because she wanted to guarantee Eric would get out as well. Now, following her recapture, Nicole will decide to work with Eric to get them both safe and away from Xander on the Monday, May 22 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Eric (Greg Vaughan) located Nicole (Arianne Zucker) on Xander’s (Paul Telfer) private Greek island on the NBC soap, and managed to successfully get her infant daughter Holly to safety. His attempt to rescue Nicole as well then failed, and she became furious with him because she was worried that she was never going to be reunited with her daughter. However, the two did work together long enough on a plan that allowed her to escape, after Eric tricked one of their guards into thinking he wasn’t breathing. The plan worked to get Nicole out, but Eric was left behind and tied to a bed after Xander learned what had happened.

However, after Nicole safely made it to the airplane where Eric’s pilot was waiting for her with Holly, she felt wrong leaving him there to potentially die by Xander’s hand. After a quick phone call with Brady (Eric Martsolf), where he praised Eric for finding and rescuing her, Nicole put her anger at Eric for Daniel’s death aside, and got off the plane to try and help him. However, the police officer she found and reported the kidnapping to wound up being a corrupt one who was on Xander’s payroll, and she too was quickly returned to the villa and recaptured.

Now, Nicole may be regretful that she tried to help Eric, especially considering their history, and she will bemoan the fact that being captured means she is once again at risk of never being reunited with her daughter. However, she and Eric will also admit that despite their differences, they worked well together as a team before, and they will decide to put their heads together and think of another potential plan that will guarantee they escape—this time, together.

Their need to escape is more important than ever before now, because neither one knows that Deimos (Vincent Irizarry) is working with Xander on a plan for Nicole’s kidnapping. He intends to show up and play the hero, saving Nicole and Holly and whisking them off to be with him for the rest of their lives, while Eric will likely be killed. If they can’t think of a plan to escape before he arrives, then it could mean that neither one will ever be able to see their loved ones again.

Seeing their loved ones is incredibly important for the pair as well, though they also don’t know just yet how important it is for them both to get back to Salem to see Brady. After Xander shot him during the attempt to grab Nicole, his body began rejecting the heart he received when Daniel died. And unfortunately for Brady, the medications to prevent that haven’t worked, and no other hearts are available for a new transplant. His body is beginning to shut down and he only has a few days left. If Nicole and Eric are unable to escape before he dies, then not only will he die without knowing that they are safe, but neither one will have the chance to say goodbye.
