The race has been on to find Holly on “Days of Our Lives,” after she disappeared from the DiMera Mansion. Now, tragedy will strike in Salem after an accident involving someone who is believed to be her kidnapper on the Tuesday, May 7 episode.

Rafe (Galen Gering) decided to follow a lead he felt he had that would implicate Ted (Gilles Marini) in Holly’s disappearance since he didn’t trust the DA and felt he wasn’t telling the truth about the kidnapping being related to the drug cartel. However, after potentially falling into a trap Ted and Xander (Paul Telfer) set to cover their tracks, a terrible accident occurred. Now, as Hope (Kristian Alfonso), Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Eric (Greg Vaughan) arrive on the scene, a horrific discovery could be made that devastates everyone on the NBC soap.

“Hope, Nicole and Eric race to the site of the accident, where they make a horrific discovery,” spoilers reveal.

A preview clip for the week’s episodes shows Nicole crying at the scene as what looks like the body of a young child is carted away, implicating that Holly will die, devastating her mother, who finally just arrived back in Salem after recovering from her own tragic accident in Tennessee, where she had been presumed dead.

However, as news of the accident spreads and the consequences of Rafe chasing who he believed was holding the little girl hostage are dealt with, what no one may realize is that they could be falling for a trap entirely—and Holly is actually fine.

Being that Xander is the one who is behind his step-daughters disappearance, and his history of heinous actions to get what he wants, it’s likely that the person Rafe was chasing was a decoy, and in reality, Xander and Holly have fled town. Considering Ted seemed to set him up to follow this lead as well, the truth may not get out for a while, and whoever else Xander is working with will certainly see to it that no one ever figures out the truth.

Until they potentially do though, all anyone in Salem will be able to do is grieve, and Nicole’s devastation in particular will be the hardest thing for those around her.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
