‘Daytime Divas’ Season 1, Episode 4 Released; What Will Happen In ‘Shut It Down’?

Maxine Robinson (Vanessa Williams) will do anything to crush Anna Crouse’s (Kristen Johnston) book in Season 1, episode 4 of VH1’s “Daytime Divas.”

According to the synopsis for next week’s episode, titled “Shut It Down,” Maxine resorts to extreme measure to quash Anna’s tell-all book.

In last night’s Season 1, episode 3, Maxine found out that Anna was back in New York writing a book about her. Anna used to be Maxine’s assistant on “The Lunch Hour,” who she eventually promoted to associate producer. Although Anna was smart and hardworking, Maxine found her as someone who could not take constructive criticism. Anna also wanted to be on camera, but because Maxine found her “uncouth” that never happened.

Maxine claimed that she “gently guided” Anna to the realization that her real talent lay in reporting. Maxine shared that she set Anna up at the Los Angeles Times after she decided to leave the show eight years ago. Because Maxine and Anna had a good working relationship before, the former was surprised when she discovered that her former mentee is writing a book about her. So Maxine immediately called Anna and invited her for a drink.

During their meeting, Maxine asked Anna if she already has an editor for her book. When Maxine found out that Anna already had a deal with Jane Felton (Jennifer Gatti) at Klein-Parker, Maxine told Anna that she needs to give customary approvals for the book she’s writing. But Anna insisted that as a real journalist she couldn’t get her subjects approvals.

Afraid that Anna will expose secrets about her marriage with Ted and his failed business ventures, Maxine reached out to Anna’s editor and made a shady deal.

At the end of last night’s episode, Anna had an interview with Maxine’s neighbor Philip, and because the TV personality and the jeweler don’t have a friendly relationship with each other, Anna easily got some juicy stories about her former boss from him.

Also in next week’s episode, Lifestyle expert Portia Camden (Tasha Smith) joins “The Lunch Hour” as guest co-host after Mo (Tichina Arnold) was fired from the show last episode. Kibby (Chloe Bridges) confronts her former nemesis Maddie (Debby Ryan); and Nina (Camille Guaty) is horrified when her personal life implodes on air.

“Daytime Divas” Season 1, episode 4 airs on Monday, June 26 at 10 p.m. EDT on VH1.
