'Dead By Daylight' Reveals New Characters For 'Resident Evil' Collab
KEY POINTS
- The upcoming collab event will introduce Nemesis, Leon and Jill to "Dead By Daylight"
- Nemesis' playstyle will involve infecting survivors with the T-Virus
- The Raccoon City Police Department will be the new map featured in the collab
More information on the previously-teased collaboration event between asymmetrical multiplayer horror game “Dead By Daylight” and the venerated “Resident Evil” franchise has been revealed, and it’s bringing some fan-favorites from the latter to the twisted realms of the Entity.
The new killer for this event will be Nemesis, the unrelenting Tyrant from “Resident Evil 3.” He’ll be introduced in his base form at the beginning of “RE 3,” and his abilities will be directly based on this incarnation.
A video featuring Nemesis in action was uploaded by IGN, showing beta footage of the upcoming collaboration.
Nicknamed “The Tyrant,” Nemesis will function similarly to the rest of “Dead By Daylight’s” Killers. He will have a basic attack as well as access to most of the game’s Killer passives. However, Nemesis comes with a set of skills that makes him one of the most unique antagonists in the game yet.
His signature ability lets him use his iconic arm-tentacle to attack survivors from a short distance away, putting Nemesis in the same boat as the Huntress or the Deathslinger. Additionally, the Tyrant is able to infect players with the T-Virus, making them cough violently and thus easier to find.
To make matters worse, AI-controlled zombies will spawn around the map whenever Nemesis is present. These zombies are slow and relatively easy to avoid, but they can infect players with the T-Virus in Nemesis’ stead.
Infecting players with the T-Virus is the central mechanic behind the Tyrant’s playstyle, Polygon noted. Nemesis will grow stronger as more survivors are infected, gaining more damage per hit and increased range on his tentacle attack.
Whenever Nemesis is the Killer, T-Virus vaccines will spawn around the map to allow survivors to cure themselves. This forces players to either cure themselves early or save the antidotes for later assuming they’re confident enough.
As for the survivors, players will be able to play as either Leon Kennedy or Jill Valentine, each of whom comes with their own abilities.
Jill is able to place mines near generators, blinding Killers that trigger them. On the other hand, Leon allows Flashbangs to spawn around the map. These grenades explode when thrown, blinding Killers and causing them to drop survivors if they’re carrying any.
Lastly, the iconic Raccoon City Police Department will be added to the game as a new map.
The “Dead By Daylight” and “Resident Evil” collaboration will arrive on June 15.
