Exciting news, details and features were revealed as Motive Studios went live to talk about the “Dead Space Remake,” giving fans a preview of all the things they can expect from the game.
Senior producer Philippe Ducharme and creative director Roman Campos-Oriola revealed some important details regarding the tech for “Dead Space Remake,” including information regarding the game engine and its compatibility with the latest generation of gaming consoles. They also shared additional details regarding the rest of the game such as the improvements to combat and overall graphical fidelity.
The developers have confirmed that “Dead Space Remake” will be running on the Frostbite engine, the same game engine that powers the “Battlefield” games as well as a large portion of EA’s other titles like “FIFA,” “Star Wars Squadrons” and “Need For Speed.”
Frostbite allows for unprecedented destruction and physics simulations, as made apparent in “Battlefield’s” destructible environments. This destruction feature has also been represented in games like “Need For Speed” to simulate car damage.
“Dead Space Remake” will also be making use of this to create accurate representations of bodily destruction towards necromorphs, resulting in more visceral and gratifying combat.
Motive is also using the Frostbite engine to bring the Ishimura’s environments to life. According to Campos-Oriola, proper lighting was the primary force that helped create a terrifying atmosphere in the original game, which is something that they aim to recreate on the new engine.
Ducharme said that they were focusing on providing top-quality lighting, visual effects and audio to replicate the same atmosphere that the original “Dead Space” had. Fans can expect faithful recreations of each level with remade assets and improved effects.
Meanwhile, Campos-Oriola said that most of the efforts they want to make to the game are aimed toward enriching the original “Dead Space” experience.
Fans consider the original “Dead Space” to be a classic, flawlessly blending action with horror without sacrificing any features that ruin the experience. Due to this, the developers are paying close attention to the preservation of the elements that made “Dead Space” such a great game in the first place.
With new features like enhanced graphics, improved dismemberment and all of the benefits that the latest generation of gaming technology provides, “Dead Space Remake” is slowly getting prepared for success.
