December 2017 Season Premieres: Over 40 New And Returning TV Shows Airing
December kicked off with the premieres of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “Easy” on Friday, and the new seasons will keep launching all month long.
The majority of scripted shows will be going on hiatus for the holidays, but there will still be a few dramas worth watching. Netflix has the most December premiere dates, but its most anticipated, by far, is Dec. 8. That is when “The Crown” Season 2 will be released. Claire Foy and Matt Smith reprise their roles as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip as the acclaimed series goes into the 1960s.
On History, “Knightfall” is a new series about the Knights Templar, a group who defended Christian relics in the Middle Ages. “Downton Abbey” alum Tom Cullen stars in the drama, which is produced by “Avengers” star Jeremy Renner.
Those looking for something a little more holiday-themed have plenty of options. “The Great Christmas Light Fight” returns along with holiday specials from “Doctor Who,” “Call the Midwife” and “When the Heart Calls.”
Reality TV fans have several premiere dates to look forward to in December as well. “Vanderpump Rules” and “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” have season premieres this month. “Married at First Sight” couple Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner also return to TV with their newborn in “Jamie and Doug Plus One.”
