In Deleted Joker Scenes From 'Suicide Squad,' Jared Leto Growled And Grabbed Crotch On Set, Actress Says
Oscar winner Jared Leto is known for being a “method actor,” where he stays in character even when he isn’t filming, but he might have taken things a little too far with The Joker on “Suicide Squad.” This is apparently the case with actress Ariane Bellamar, who played The Joker’s muse.
Leto, 44, would growl at Bellamar and rub his crotch every time she walked near him while they filmed at a Toronto nightclub in June 2015. “He did it every time he walked past me,” the actress told Radar Online in an exclusive interview Friday. “He wasn’t hiding it or anything.”
She “laughed it off” at first, but Bellamar was ultimately upset by his crude actions, calling it “creepy.” She confessed she isn’t a “prude” but “it took me completely off guard.”
A rep for Leto denied the disturbing behavior. “It’s completely false,” his rep told Radar Online, adding: “There is absolutely no truth to this.”
The scene was ultimately cut from the film. In fact, many of Leto’s scenes didn’t make it to the silver screen. Margot Robbie, who portrayed Harley Quinn, lamented about this during an interview with Tipsy Talk Wednesday. Like Bellamar, many of her scenes with The Joker were cut from the flick.
She said if she had it her way, The Joker and Harley Quinn would get their own movie based off of all the deleted scenes from “Suicide Squad.”
Even though Leto’s rep denied he acted inappropriately, he talked about crossing the boundary with his co-stars. He sent Robbie a rat and Will Smith bullets, but what was most shocking was when he sent everyone used condoms.
“I did a lot of things to create a dynamic to create an element of surprise, a spontaneity and to really break down any kind of walls that may be there,” he told E! Online at Cinemacon in April. “The Joker is somebody who doesn't really respect things like personal space or boundaries.”
Apparently Leto doesn’t respect boundaries either.
