Before the curtain falls on this earnings season, investors will hear next week from several more major players, including Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Lowe's and Best Buy.
Of the 468 companies in the S&P 500 that have reported earnings so far, 68 percent beat analysts' expectations, about the same rate as over the past four quarters, according to data compiled by Thomson Reuters.
We ran a screen and produced a list of 29 key companies set to report their earnings Aug. 20-24. We have highlighted their expected reporting dates and times, along with analysts' earnings-per-share and Reuters revenue estimates, as well as the stocks' year-to-date performances.
Monday Before Market Open, or BMO:
Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW) is a home improvement retailer. The company has a market capitalization of $32.12 billion. It is expected to report FY 2012 second-quarter EPS of 70 cents on revenue of $14.46 billion, compared with a profit of 68 cents per share on revenue of $14.54 billion in the year-ago period. Lowe's is trading around $27.30 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 7.57 percent.
Monday After Market Close, or AMC:
Urban Outfitters, Inc. (Nasdaq: URBN) is a lifestyle specialty retail company. The company has a market capitalization of $4.52 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 33 cents on revenue of $671.60 million, compared with a profit of 35 cents per share on revenue of $609.18 million in the year-ago period. Urban Outfitters is trading around $31.20 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 13.21 percent.
Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN) is a manufacturer of equipment used for precision material dispensing, testing and inspection, surface preparation and curing. The company has a market capitalization of $3.54 billion. It is expected to report FY 2012 third-quarter EPS of 99 cents on revenue of $358.45 million, compared with a profit of 81 cents per share on revenue of $312.26 million in the year-ago period. Nordson is trading around $55.05 per share. So far this year, the stock has gained 33.68 percent.
Tuesday BMO:
Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE: BBY) is a multinational retailer. The company has a market capitalization of $6.77 billion. It is expected to report FY 2013 second-quarter EPS of 31 cents on revenue of $10.63 billion, compared with a profit of 35 cents per share on revenue of $10.94 billion in the year-ago period. Best Buy is trading around $19.93 per share. So far this year, the stock has lost 14.76 percent.
Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS) is a bookseller. The company has a market capitalization of $744.34 million. It is expected to report a loss of $1 a share in the first quarter of fiscal year 2013 on revenue of $1.48 billion, compared with a loss of $1 a share on revenue of $1.42 billion in the year-ago period. Barnes & Noble is trading around $12.41 per share. So far this year, the stock has lost 14.23 percent.
DSW Inc. (NYSE: DSW) is a U.S. branded footwear and accessories specialty retailer. The company has a market capitalization of $2.69 billion. It is expected to report FY 2012 second-quarter EPS of 62 cents on revenue of $510.40 million, compared with a profit of 74 cents per share on revenue of $476.31 million in the year-ago period. Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU) is a provider of business and financial management solutions for small and medium-sized businesses, consumers, accounting professionals and financial institutions.
