Delphi Murders Update: Grandfather Discusses Finding Justice For Liberty German, Abigail Williams
New theories and details have continued to emerge in the three years since Liberty German and Abigail Williams' murders in Delphi, Indiana. While hiking together on Feb. 13, the two disappeared. Following search efforts, their bodies were recovered the next day.
Now, Liberty's grandfather, Mike Patty, has spoken out about what he would like to see moving forward regarding the 2017 Delphi murders.
According to Radar Online, Patty said that they are "willing to do whatever it takes to bring their killer to justice." He then added that they are "still here" and "still fighting."
Liberty, who was also called Libby, has been thought of as a "hero" since that day in 2017 due to the fact that she was able to capture an image of what police believe is the man responsible for the crimes. The captured video depicts a male in a blue jacket and jeans who can be heard on the audio saying "Down the hill."
Previously, police suspected that Paul Etter of Indiana, 55, could be the one behind the acts. His name had reportedly "come up through the process," as stated by Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby. Etter had also been previously accused of kidnapping and raping a woman. However, when law enforcement wanted to charge him with the abduction and assault of a 26-year-old woman, he fatally shot himself during a police standoff.
The uncertainty about the still-unsolved murders was additionally discussed on the new HLN podcast, "Down the Hill: The Delphi Murders." The new episodes work to take a closer look at the "mystery that still haunts the small town of Delphi, Indiana while police say the killer may walk among them."
As for what's next in the ongoing investigation, Patty said that he believes the teenager wouldn't want people to give up searching for answers. "What Libby would want now is to help spread this message that her life mattered," he said. Later, he added, "These girls deserve justice for their name."
