Demi Lovato has revealed she doesn't have to be in a relationship to be happy and feels good about the thought that her happiness depends on herself.

On Saturday, the "Skyscraper" singer took to social media and shared a short message that her fans took as an update about matters of the heart two months after she called off her engagement to ex Max Ehrich.

"The best part about being single is knowing that my happiness is coming from no other person than myself," Lovato wrote on her Instagram Story.

Lovato said "yes" to Ehrich's proposal in Malibu, California, on July 22. However, they called it quits just two months after he popped the question.

"It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers," a source told People at the time. "They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together."

However, drama ensued when Ehrich claimed that he only learned about their breakup through a tabloid report.

"Imagine finding out to the status of your relationship through a tabloid. While your (sic) in the middle of filming a biopic movie about a Pastor in a Christian Church whose intention of the film is to help people," he said.

However, several sources said Lovato had clearly told him that their relationship was over and even warned him that it was going to come out in the press.

In November, Ehrich accused Lovato of exploiting their breakup for clout after she made a quip about getting "unengaged" during the 2020 People's Choice Awards. "Stop talking about me on award show. thanks," he said.

Fans and Twitter users came after Ehrich over his statement, accusing him of using Lovato for fame.

"It’s becoming more and more clear why she dumped his a--. Geeeez. Imagine thinking Demi Lovato has to use anyone for clout. Lmfao," one Twitter user wrote, along with a laughing emoji.

"He just wanted to be famous and is angry that it didn‘t work out...Psycho," another wrote.
