Demi Lovato was pictured for the first time Sunday morning after being hospitalized for a drug overdose in July.

The 26-year-old singer was spotted near her rehab facility, chatting with a friend while drinking a cup of coffee. She wore black leggings, a khaki green jacket and white sneakers with a black baseball cap and looked happy and relaxed as she caught up with her friend, who was walking a dog.

Eyewitnesses previously told TMZ the singer was seen at the local Starbucks fairly regularly lately, and usually visited the coffee joint with other patients from the rehab facility.

TMZ reported last week that Lovato’s former boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama was still a “constant presence” for her while she was in rehab. Lovato was transferred from a rehab center on the East Coast to another facility that is world-renowned for its addiction programs. She has been at that facility for more than a month, and Valderrama has flown there several times to visit her.

They were also spotted at the local Starbucks several times, and it appeared to people in the shop the duo was dating.

Lovato’s mother Dianna de la Garza spoke for the first time about her daughter’s terrifying brush with death and said, “I literally start to shake a little bit when I start to remember what happened that day.”

She went into detail about the day of the incident, including how it was Lovato’s then-assistant, Kelsey Kershner, who broke the news to her.

“I didn’t know what to say, it was just something that I never, ever expected to hear as a parent, about any of my kids. And I hesitated to ask, but I had to ask her, I remember it just seemed like the words took forever to come out of my mouth. I said, ‘is she OK?’ And (Kelsey) stopped for a second, and she said, ‘she’s conscious but she’s not talking.’ And so I knew that we that we were in trouble,” E! Online reported.

She then made her way to the hospital. “We got there as quickly as we could. Dallas and (Madison De La Garza, Demi’s sister) and I jumped out of the car at the emergency room and ran into the emergency room to be by her side. She just didn’t look good — at all. She was in bad shape. But I said to her, ‘Demi, I’m here. I love you.’ And at that point she said back to me, ‘I love you, too.’”

She wasn’t completely confident her daughter was going to pull through; however, Lovato entered an in-patient treatment facility Aug. 4.

“She’s happy. She’s healthy. She’s working on her sobriety, and she’s getting the help she needs. That in itself encourages me about her future and about the future of our family,” she said.

Lovato suffered an overdose July 24 at her Hollywood Hills home, where her drug dealer supplied her with pills that appeared to be laced with fentanyl.
