Demi Lovato has been one of the few celebrities who has been quite open about her life struggles. Lovato has been sharing a lot of details about her fatal drug overdose in 2018 and how it completely changed her life. She recenlty opened up about the minor details of what led to the overdose.
While making an appearance in Ashley Graham’s podcast, the 27-year-old celebrity revealed that her fight against an eating disorder led to her overdose. The musician further stated that she was struggling because of her eating habits and ran herself “into the ground” before losing some valuable time of her life due to drug addiction.
Shedding light on that particular moment, the “Sober” hitmaker noted she was pressured by a lot of people to look a certain appearance and started “extreme” dieting to look better. However, she later realized that the intense workout sessions and dieting were taking a toll on her.
“I am tired of running myself into the ground with workouts and extreme dieting. I thought the past few years were recovery from an eating disorder when it was just completely falling into it,” Lovato said.
The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer confessed that she never found recovery due to what she was doing prior to the overdose and was lying about living her life happily when she really was not.
“I honestly think that is kind of what led to everything happening over the past year was just me thinking I found recover when I did not, and then living this kind of lie and trying to tell the world I was happy with myself when I really was not,” Lovato said.
Recently, Lovato revealed a new tattoo that represents what kind of woman she has become after getting to know how precious her life is. Taking it to Instagram, the singer unveiled her new ink that seems to be a representation of all the hardships she went through after the overdose. She shared that the tattoo symbolizes the “spiritual awakening” she has been witnessing in recent times.
In related news, Lovato will be hosting a new talk show soon, ET Online reported. The 10-episode series will show the singer discussing a range of issues like sex, relationship and wellness.
