The Denver Broncos have had a brutal 2019 NFL season, suffering a bunch of close losses and sitting at the bottom of the AFC West. Sunday’s contest with the Buffalo Bills could be more of the same.

Buffalo is a four-point home favorite in Week 12, according to the latest betting like at OddsShark. The total is 37.5.

Denver is the best bet against the spread because of how competitive they’ve been. Coming away with a win straight up won’t be as easy for the Broncos.

In Week 11, the Minnesota Vikings became the first team in the last five years to overcome a 20-point halftime deficit. Denver blew a 20-0 third-quarter lead in Minnesota, and they even failed to score from the goal line in the final seconds of a 27-23 loss.

Five of the Broncos’ seven losses have been by one score. The Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars all beat Denver by exactly two points. Only Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers have defeated the Broncos by double digits.

Josh Allen was just named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, but he’s far from being among the league’s top quarterbacks. He’s led the Bills to double-digit victories over the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins and New York Giants, all of whom are headed for top-five draft picks.

The Broncos are better than that group of teams. Their defense remains among the NFL’s best, keeping them in most games. The offense and poor coaching decisions have failed Denver in close contests, though the defense has faltered on a couple of occasions.

Denver is fourth in total defense. The Broncos rank eighth in scoring defense and opponents’ yards per play.

The Bills have faced five teams that own a top-20 defense. Buffalo didn’t score more than 17 points in any of those games.

The Bills are third in both total and scoring defense. Brandon Allen won’t have a big afternoon Sunday. It’ll be a close, low-scoring affair.

The Broncos are 5-2 against the spread as an underdog. Denver only won two of those games straight up.
