DePIN leader IoTeX accelerates sector growth with W3bstream's Devnet release
- The release of Devnet provides developers with tools that have never existed before and that enable building mobility, energy, sensor, AI computing and wireless networks.
- W3bstream reduces the go-to market time and resources from years to weeks as it provides developers with all the tools and infra they need to build data-driven dApps.
- Dozens of DePIN projects with social impact potential will start using W3bstream, including two exciting Devnet launch partners, Drife, an Uber challenger, and React, an energy grid network.
With the launch of W3bstream's one-of-a-kind Devnet, IoTeX has become the world's first tech startup to provide developers with unique tools and infra to build transformational Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) dApps. It lowers development costs dramatically and the go-to-market time from years to weeks.
W3bstream enables developers to build mobility, energy, sensor, AI computing, physical and wireless networks, and other data-driven dApps quickly and easily. It allows developers to connect billions of smart devices to any smart contract for the benefit of millions of people.
"We are the first Web3 project to provide developers with out-of-the-box services that enable them to create social-impact DePIN dApps that reward users for their actions or incentivize certain behaviors," IoTeX CEO and Founder Raullen Chai explained. "This has never existed before, and it will fast-forward the DePIN, a sector that today is where DeFi was several years ago."
DePIN is fast becoming the most significant Web3 trend this year and could grow to about $3 trillion by 2028.
It will bring the next massive wave of adoption as people become increasingly aware that Web3 solves the issues of centralized smart device connectivity, applications, and networks, such as security, reliability, privacy, and data ownership.
The power of W3bstream Devnet
Devnet is loTeX's first public implementation of W3bstream's chain and device-agnostic architecture.
"We've been bold enough to create W3bstream, the world's first DePIN infrastructure that provides developers with all the tools to easily and within a few days build any dApp imaginable. We want to ensure developers are successful," said Chai. "W3bstream Devnet removes many of the underlying complexities developers face when building DePIN networks and data-driven dApps for smart devices."
Before Devnet and W3bstream Studio, the cost of innovation was significantly high because of the seven-layer depth of the tech stack — hardware, firmware under hardware, smart contracts, blockchain, middleware, web app, and mobile app — required to build a DePIN dApp.
A deeper dive into W3bstream
Devnet includes a powerful W3bstream Studio, mobile Software Development Kits (SDKs), and Web Assembly (WASM). W3bstream Studio is a one-of-a-kind, robust control center and developer interfacing tool that allows developers to orchestrate every aspect of their DePIN project, from data reception to application logic and interaction with the blockchain.
The Devnet launch also includes out-of-box DePIN solutions, such as trusted token metrics that allow builders and investors to visualize and analyze device data on the chain. IoTeX will release other solutions soon. Those include token proof to help validate off-chain data and distribute token incentives. Also, trusted location services for proof of humanity and presence and many other geo-based use cases.
W3bstream provides a chain-agnostic environment for developers to crowdsource data from all smart devices, generate "proofs of real-world activity," and use these proofs to trigger smart contracts to deliver digital assets (e.g., cryptocurrency, stablecoins, Soulbound Tokens (SBTs), and NFTs) to users.
IoTeX's Devnet launch partners
Dozens of DePIN projects are already lined up and ready to benefit from W3bstream, including two outstanding projects with enormous social impact.
Drife is disrupting the global ridesharing market. They already have over 30,000 drivers, over 100,000 registered users, and 250,000 rides completed. They use W3bstream to enable verifiable mobile geo-location into its tech stack to track the routes driven and riders' competition securely.
"[Before W3bstream] nobody had built something that solves mobility-specific primitives," said Drife CEO and Co-Founder Firdosh Sheikh.
React Network comprises thousands of connected batteries deployed in homes, businesses, and multi-family living spaces, enabling it to support the power grid in times of need. It uses W3bstream to manage and visualize the diverse footprint of smart devices contributing to its network and compute the high volume of real-time data from those devices.
"The IoTeX Foundation is building an incredibly valuable infrastructure that reduces the complexity of launching DePIN projects, and we're excited to partner with the team," said React Network Founder Jason Badeux.
The evolution of Web3 networks
"DePIN is for the maximally ambitious founders that want to solve the base problems of society," said Salvador Gala, Escape Velocity Ventures Co-Founder. "It's how people get the Internet, how they get the energy to their homes, how they transport themselves, so DePIN in its 20 or 30-year timeline solves all these problems. It cuts out the intermediary and returns the most economics to the people genuinely contributing to the network."
The future of DePIN is brighter with W3bstream. It represents an exciting new frontier in Web3 and offers a more efficient, cost-effective, and collective ownership approach to reimagining how we build physical infrastructure networks tomorrow.
