Derek Carr signed a five-year, $125 million deal to stay with the Oakland Raiders in 2017. Carr and his brother David have always been immensely popular in Central Valley, California, with both having outstanding college careers at Fresno State. David went on to become the no. 1 overall pick in 2002 NFL draft, while Derek went on to become the 36th pick in the second round by the Raiders in 2014. Together, they opened a training facility called Carr Elite, per Forbes.
Derek received a $2.2 million as a signing bonus for his first contract. However, things did not go smoothly for him in 2016 after suffering from a broken fibula. According to Live Biography, before he got sidelined, he recorded an impressive 28 touchdowns, 3,937 yards and a passer rating of 96.7. After his recovery the next year, the team awarded him with a contract extension due to his fine play.

Interestingly, Carr and Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden will soon be neighbors. And the two seemed oblivious about it at first. Reports say that Carr will relocate to Las Vegas next year and he bought an estate just beside his coach. Derek chose a house in the Southern Highlands because it is near their practice facility which is being built at the moment, a $2 billion-worth Allegiant Stadium. The price of the house is undisclosed at the moment.
The Raiders star also owns an impressive list of cars. Porsche, Audi and Mercedes can be found in his garage, with the Audi R8 reportedly priced at least $160, 000.
His endorsements include Nike and Panini. Derek Carr also has a Youtube channel which has 37,400 subscribers. It is where he likes to upload interviews, game recaps and even some commercials.
Despite the success and massive earnings, Carr knows how to pay it forward. Aside from helping the Valley’s hospital where he came from, he is also helping various causes and waives his appearance fee.
With his new contract extension, the 28-year-old NFL star is included in the list of highest paid athletes in 2018. He placed at 19th position with $42.1 million earnings, beating the likes of Trumaine Johnson and Jimmy Garoppolo, Ryan Tannehill and Von Miller.
