Derek Jeter, Hannah Davis Welcome First Child; What’s Her Name?
Derek Jeter and Hannah Davis are officially parents.
The New York Yankees great and his supermodel wife welcomed a baby girl on Thursday. The news was confirmed by The Players’ Tribune on Twitter. “Congratulations Derek and @hannahbjeter on the birth of your baby girl, Bella Raine Jeter, born Thursday, Aug. 17,” the post read.
The New York Yankees immediately sent their congratulations to the new parents on Twitter after the announcement. “Congrats to Derek & Hannah Jeter on the birth of their daughter, Bella Raine Jeter. We can’t wait to meet her!” their tweet read.
Davis announced her pregnancy back in February via The Players’ Tribune website. “Now, pregnant with our first child, Derek and I are looking to the future,” Davis wrote, adding that as parents, they want their baby to grow up as normal as possible.
“They’re going to be born into such an extraordinary situation. They’re going to have to be some strong little people,” Davis continued.“We don’t want them to be defined by their dad’s name — for them, we want him to just be ‘Dad.’”
According to TMZ, when Jeter, 43, retired from baseball in 2014, he announced that he wanted to start a family. With the arrival of baby Bella Raine, the professional baseball shortstop just accomplished his goal to have his own family.
Jeter and Davis, 27, started dating in 2011. The couple got engaged in 2015 and tied the knot in 2016.
Jeter and Davis exchanged “I do’s” in an outdoor ceremony at the Meadowood Napa Valley Resort in St. Helena, California. The intimate wedding was attended by less than 100 guests. Aside from the couple’s family and friends, Jeter’s longtime pals and Yankees stars Jorge Posada, Andruw Jones and Tino Martinez were in attendance. Davis’ model friends from Sports Illustrated were also present, E! News reported.
On their wedding day, Davis wore a custom Vera Wang mermaid bridal gown that featured a bodice with a sweetheart neckline, tulle and lace halter high neck with a plunging back. She paired it with a double tier cathedral-length veil. On the other hand, Jeter sported a white Nigel Curtiss tuxedo with an ivory bow tie and white rose boutonniere.
