The adorable minions are back in a new Despicable Me 2 trailer to promote the sequel set to be released in the summer of 2013.

The trailer offers little insight into the world of criminal mastermind Gru, featuring only four overall-clad minions singing the Beach Boys classic Barbara Ann. However, while viewers don't catch a glimpse of super villain Gru or his three adopted girls, the trailer does succeed in eliciting awws and in building anticipation for the highly anticipated sequel.

The trailer comes on the tails of the hot opening weekend for The Lorax, created by the same creative team as Despicable Me. Released Friday, The Lorax grossed $70.7 million in its opening weekend in the U.S., according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. The animated film was the biggest opening of the year, surprising a film industry that has seen slumping box office results this year.

In 2010, Despicable Me grossed more than $251 million in the U.S., with a total $543 million grossed worldwide. The film's production budget was only $69 million, yet it earned extremely positive reviews from critics and viewers alike, gaining an 81 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
