'Destiny 2': The Dawning 2022 Materials And Loot Farming Guide

The annual holiday event for "Destiny 2" is back for another round full of cookie baking and gift giving. Much of the event has remained consistent with how the ones from the previous years were treated, but there are some notable changes done to 2022's Dawning that warrant a closer look.

Here's the full list of Dawning ingredients, as well as a guide on how to farm for all of the new and reprised loot the "Destiny 2" Christmas event has to offer.

How to get crafting materials

The first thing players may notice about the Dawning is that there is no dedicated playlist tied to it. This means players will have to earn all of its unique crafting materials in the rest of the game's activities.

The event revolves around gathering ingredients, baking them into cookies and giving them as gifts to "Destiny 2's" many NPCs. Doing so will reward players with Dawning Spirit and gift boxes that contain goodies like upgrade materials and weapons.

Ingredients can be collected by defeating certain enemies while using specific weapon types or abilities. Meanwhile, Essences of Dawning can be earned by completing activities. Here's the full list of Dawning ingredients and their sources:

• Cabal Oil – defeat Cabal
• Chitin Powder – defeat Hive
• Dark Ether Cane – defeat Scorn
• Ether Cane – defeat Fallen
• Taken Butter – defeat Taken
• Vex Milk – defeat Vex
• Bullet Spray – SMG, Auto Rifle and Machine Gun kills
• Dark Frosting – Stasis damage kills
• Delicious Explosion – Explosive kills
• Electric Flavor – defeat enemies with Arc damage
• Finishing Touch – use Finishers on enemies
• Perfect Taste – land Precision Final Blows
• Sharp Flavor – defeat enemies with Swords
• Impossible Heat – kill enemies with Solar damage
• Null Taste – defeat combatants with Void damage
• Flash of Inspiration – spawn Orbs of Power
• Personal Touch – Powered melee ability takedowns
• Balanced Flavor – score final blows with Bows, Pulse Rifles and Scout Rifles
• Multifaceted Flavor – score rapid final blows
• Superb Texture – defeat enemies with Supers

Cookies are baked via Eva's Holiday Oven 2.1, which is automatically given to the player after they talk to Eva Levante at the Tower. Baking cookies is as simple as picking a recipe and crafting them from the oven.

One important thing to note about baking is that it can be made significantly more efficient after players make one of each cookie. Doing this will unlock the Masterwork option for the oven, which will decrease the Essence of Dawning cost for each recipe.

How to get Dawning 2022 loot

Since there's no dedicated Dawning playlist, players can't just farm an activity for a chance at earning unique gear like in the previous Solstice 2022 event. Instead, every Guardian will have to progress through the Dawning Event Card in order to make any significant progress toward their grinding effort.

The Event Card features a list of challenges related directly to the Dawning. These range from baking a certain number of cookies, defeating enemies with a specific damage type or completing activities across the Sol System.

Players who want to farm for the Dawning 2022 weapons will have to complete the following challenges:

• Deep Freeze
• Snowmelt
• They Call It Snow
• Thundersnow

Luckily, all of these only involve defeating either Combatants or Guardians in the Crucible with all four of the elemental damage types.

Completing these four challenges is important because they will let players purchase the Dawning 2022 weapons from Eva. She sells loot on the second page of her NPC screen, but players need to get at least one copy of the gear piece they want. Otherwise, the items in question will remain locked.

Each item will require a few bits of Dawning Spirit as well as a Gift in Return, which is earned from giving cookies to NPCs.

Eva also has a list of upgrades that will make the grind a bit easier by rewarding players with more materials or by giving Dawning weapons a chance to roll with more perks. Additionally, players must purchase the "Limited Exchange Ticket" upgrade in order to purchase weapons from Eva's store.

Lastly, don't forget to equip the Starfarer 7M, a unique ship that's specifically made for Dawning events. It has a special perk slot that grants players a chance to generate Dawning Spirit every time they obtain a cookie ingredient. Purchase the Starfarer upgrade module from Eva to unlock this perk.
