'Destiny 2' Guide: Proving Grounds Nightfall Strike Tips And Tricks
KEY POINTS
- “Destiny 2” players should prioritize survival over everything else
- A Stag Warlock with Well of Radiance can be of great help in this Nightfall
- Linear fusion rifles are very effective against distant targets and vehicles
The Proving Grounds over at Nessus has easily proven itself to be one of the most difficult Nightfalls in “Destiny 2” in terms of the sheer overwhelming force that Guardians will have to face to finish this mission.
“Destiny 2” players will have to fight their way through the legions of Cabal soldiers and face off against a fairly difficult boss fight at the end. The rooms leading up to the final boss aren’t any easier either, as the challenge only ramps up the further players get into Empress Caiatl’s tank.
This Nightfall will require a bit more planning than usual, and players will want to bring their best gear if they want to get platinum clears for this mission. Here are a few tips on how to finish the Proving Grounds in “Destiny 2.”
Team and Loadout Recommendations
A defense-oriented team is highly recommended for this strike. A Well of Radiance Warlock and either a Ward of Dawn or Code of the Commander Titan can help the team survive hectic combat rooms, while a bottom-tree Nightstalker with smoke bombs can revive teammates who get downed by enemies.
Players can run with a Titan and double Well of Radiance setup to further boost survivability at the expense of Hunter invisibility.
Exotic Armor Recommendations:
- Lunafaction Boots
- Phoenix Protocol
- The Stag
- Ursa Furiosa
- Graviton Forfeit
- Crest of Alpha Lupi
Long-ranged auto rifles and pulse rifles with anti-champion mods are also recommended because of how long the engagement ranges inside the tank can be. Eriana’s Vow can be a good alternative for anti-barrier auto rifles, while any linear fusion rifle should suffice for boss general-killing.
Encounter Tips
The enemies at the beginning of the strike can be skipped by hugging the rocky hill to the left. Make sure to take out any champions and turrets along the way.
When fighting Colossi, make sure to stay near cover to avoid their long bursts of fire. As for the colossus minibosses that spawn dome shields, try to hide behind the shield generators so players can safely destroy them.
Upon reaching the vehicle bay, find a spot at the back of the room and hunker down. Use long-ranged weapons or a Warlock well with Lunafaction Boots. Don’t be afraid to spam Supers in this area, especially when the tanks spawn in.
In the final boss room, interacting with the totem that starts the boss fight will instantly refill all fireteam members’ Supers. Try to pop a Well of Radiance or a Titan bubble before starting this encounter to make the most use out of this mechanic.
