Bungie has announced it is will be delaying the release of “Destiny 2: Shadowkeep” to early October.

The announcement came Thursday in a blog post written by game director Luke Smith and general manager Mark Noseworthy, revealing that “Destiny 2’s” latest expansion, “Shadowkeep,” would be pushed back to October 1st. Along with “Shadowkeep,” the free-to-play version, titled “New Light” would also be pushed back to the same date.

“As we get closer and closer to serving up Shadowkeep and New Light, it has become increasingly clear to us that our releases for this Fall would benefit from a bit more time in the oven,” Smith and Noseworthy said. “Being independent means that the future of Destiny 2 is entirely on our team. It also means that we’re agile enough to choose to do what's best for the game and our players, even if it's the hard choice. We wanted to let you—our Community—know first that we're changing the date for Shadowkeep and New Light from September 17 to October 1.”

But along with the delay, Smith and Noseworthy also took the chance to reveal other date changes as a result of the delay.

First, the pair confirmed the next raid, titled Garden of Salvation, would open up Oct. 5 and be a weekend long race to world’s first. Bungie would also be extending Moments of Triumph to Sept. 17 and be holding an additional Iron Banner as a result of the delay, giving players more time to finish up challenges they have left. And one of the most talked about addition, cross-save, would go live before the release of “Shadowkeep.”

To close out, Luke Smith took to twitter to reveal that he would publish a “state of the game” post next week to talk more on the future of “Destiny 2.”
