Dominique Fishback as Darlene
As the police crackdown intensifies in the Season 1 finale of “The Deuce,” Darlene (Dominique Fishback) has two choices in front of her: enter the porn industry or stay in the massage parlors. HBO/ Paul Schiraldi

In Season 1, episode 2 of HBO’s “The Deuce,” Darlene was furious when she found out that she was the inadvertent star of a popular porn short. But now that the police are moving the sex workers off the streets and into the “massage” parlors, will Darlene eventually decide to do porn instead?

“She said in episode 6, ‘What if I have kids? What if my kids have kids?’” Dominique Fishback told TVLine of the moment, in which Darlene (Fishback) told her pimp Larry (Gbenga Akinnagbe) that “movies are forever.” “She just has such a deep soul. So at this point, she does not want to be in the porn industry.”

That, however, might change soon, as the police crackdown intensifies. “She’s getting restless,” Fishback told Us Weekly of what to expect of Darlene in the Season 1 finale. “She has two choices in front of her: the porn industry, which is not for her, or the massage parlors. There, she’s even more in a box. The rooms are so small. She hears everything that someone says, that someone is doing. At least on the streets she can walk around, see fresh faces. She doesn’t know what she wants out of life, but she’s realizing she does have control. Now, she’s weighing her options.”

In an interview with Bustle, Fishback implied that viewers won’t have to wait until Season 2 to see what Darlene’s next move will be. “I think we'll find out sooner rather than later what she decides to do," Fishback teased about the Season 1 finale.

Elsewhere in Season 1, episode 8, Vincent (James Franco) balks at getting in deeper with Rudy (Michael Rispoli), as expansion fever hits Frankie (also played by Franco) and Bobby (Chris Bauer).

In the trailer for the episode, Rudy, Bobby and Frankie reveal to Vincent that they are opening another massage parlor. But unlike with the first one, Vincent doesn’t want to be involved this time around. “I’m out,” the barman tells the mob boss upfront.

However, it appears that Vincent can’t just walk away from Rudy that easily. At the end of the video, a seemingly bruised up Vincent surfaces as a mystery man points a gun to his head.

“The Deuce” Season 1 finale, titled “My Name Is Ruby,” airs on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO.
