KEY POINTS
- The "Diablo 2 Resurrected" open beta starts on Aug. 20
- Those who pre-purchased the game can play this Friday as well
- Both betas will last for three days only
Eager gamers will get another early access treat for “Diablo 2 Resurrected” as its first public open beta is scheduled to go live in the coming weeks.
“Diablo 2 Resurrected’s” open beta will begin on Aug. 20, and it will run over the course of the weekend. Everyone will be able to join this public open beta, but those who pre-ordered the game will be able to play earlier, as one of the pre-purchase bonuses is early access to the beta starting this Friday.
This will be the second time that “Diablo 2 Resurrected” is made available before its release. A playable alpha test was available in April for lucky players who were selected by the developers.
The open beta will feature five playable classes, unlike the alpha test’s three, according to Blizzard. Players will be able to choose between the Paladin and the Druid, as well as the Barbarian, Sorceress and Amazon classes.
The first two acts of the game will be playable, but unlike in the previous test, the level cap will no longer be present. This means that players can get their characters to max level so they can try out all of the builds they want.
To join the early access beta, players must purchase the “Diablo Prime Evil Collection” on PC and eligible platforms or pre-purchase “Diablo 2 Resurrected” before this Friday. Those who have purchased either package will be able to pre-load the game so they can go straight in-game once the beta period starts.
Those who do not want to spend money will have to wait until next week to play. The game can be accessed via Battle.net on PC or their console’s respective game stores. Starting Aug. 18, players can pre-load “Diablo 2 Resurrected,” and access to the game will be granted from Friday of the same week until 10 a.m. EDT on Aug. 23.
Xbox users will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription for the early access beta. However, a subscription will not be necessary for the public open beta on Aug. 20.
Meanwhile, PlayStation users will not need an active PS Plus subscription to access either of the betas. Unfortunately, a subscription will be required for access to “Diablo 2 Resurrected’s” multiplayer components.
