Blizzard is expected to release its beta version of Diablo 3 in the coming months. Meanwhile, it has opened up registrations for beta testers on Battle.net.

To get started, users can click on the Beta Profile Settings in the Battle.net Account Management.

The release of the actual game is "too early to estimate," said the company, which is also mum on the pricing and availability.

Still, Blizzard has put out plenty of teaser materials (below) about its highly-anticipated game.

Diablo 3 is a continuation of the Diablo series. Players can choose from the following five classes of characters: barbarian, witch doctor, wizard, monk, and demon hunter. They'll also encounter some of the same locations and creatures from Diablo 2.

However, Diablo 3 also differs significantly from Diablo 2 and any other Blizzard games. First, the game play is online only. Second, it features a real-currency Auction House for items and gold.
