'Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls' Features Coming To Vanilla 'Diablo 3' Via Big Patch
Many of the features coming with "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" will be made available to standalone "Diablo 3" via a free patch that will be released by Blizzard.
PCGamer spoke with "Diablo 3"'s lead content designer, Kevin Martens, who said that those who choose not to buy the "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" expansion will get all of the new item types, the new Diamond gem type, rule changes, smart item drop system and the targeted item drop system once the patch drops.
The new item drop system aims to make item acquisition a proposition that focuses on killing monsters in order to get awesome loot, instead of simply using in-game "Diablo 3" gold or real-world money to buy the big-time items you want by simply paying for them in the "Diablo 3" auction house.
Martens also said that the patch will "probably" bring the loot runs game mode to "Diablo 3," as well as the Paragon leveling system, which gives max-level players reasons to keep playing by granting them rewards for earning Paragon Levels. Read about the "Diablo 3" Paragon System here.
