Did ‘Agents Of SHIELD’ Season 7 Just Get A New Cast Member?
This week’s “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” ended with quite a twist. Rather than letting Daniel Sousa die, the agents faked his death and pulled him into their time machine. Now, the 1955 agent is headed on their next adventure to save S.H.I.E.L.D. in the 1970s, but does that mean actor Enver Gjokaj will be on the bus for the rest of the season?
“I wouldn’t get my hopes up too much,” Gjokaj told TVLine. “But he’s on the ride for the time being.”
In any case, Sousa will likely deal with some culture shock when they land in the 1970s. For him, that’s at least 15 years in the future, during which the civil rights movement and sexual revolution both took place.
“It was fun for me as an actor to play Daniel in that time period, reacting to that time period,” the actor added. “That was a blast for that particular episode.”
The trailer already shows some of Sousa’s reaction. “Might as well embrace the 1970s,” the transplant says before a longhaired man in yellow short shorts and a crop top rollerblades by with a boom box on his shoulder. That’s going to look pretty weird to Sousa.

Unfortunately, he won’t be meeting up with former flame Peggy Carter. Though Sousa was introduced to audiences on “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” actress Hayley Atwell recently shut down fan speculation that she might cameo in the final season of “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.” Though she made some Season 2 guest appearances, the “Mission Impossible 7” star gave a simple “no” with a peace sign emoji when a fan on Instagram expressed hope that she’d return.
There are some slightly more pressing returns “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” audiences want to see, namely Fitz (Iain DeCaestecker). The scientist has to be separated from wife Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) for safety reasons, but the show still hasn’t even given viewers a glimpse of him in the four Season 7 episodes so far.
“Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
