Did Honey Boo Boo Shade Mama June Amid Controversy With Boyfriend Geno?

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson seemingly dissed her own mother, Mama June Shannon, in her latest social media post.

The former “Toddlers & Tiaras” star recently took to Instagram to share a carefree selfie, which featured a shady text that read, “I do not need people who do not need me.” She also emphasized the sentiment when she wrote “Periodtttt” in her caption.

Though Alana did not give hints on who she was referring to when she made the post, some of her fans assumed that it was directed at Mama June, who unfortunately abandoned her family and chose to be with her ex-convict boyfriend Geno Doak.

In the finale of “Mama June: From Not To Hot” Season 3, it was revealed that Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon has been given temporary custody over her younger sister since Mama June has opted to live the casino life with Geno. The family staged an intervention in hopes of getting back Mama June, but the troubled matriarch still chose Geno over her kids.

On the other hand, some of Alana’s followers also felt like her message was not for Mama June but for some toxic people who just used the young reality star to gain some sort of popularity on social media.

“Alana just know honey your true followers are here for you and we love you! Sweetheart we’ve watched you grow up from a little girl into the beautiful young lady you are today,” one fan wrote.

“That’s right Alana! You are such a kind hearted sweet girl! You don’t need anyone, who can’t respect just how good you are,” another commented.

Meanwhile, Honey Boo Boo indirectly admitted that she’s “bad” after choosing to distance herself from Mama June last month. In an Instagram post, she alluded to being called “bad” by an unidentified man and she noted that he is “probably right.”

Some fans assumed that she could be referring to Geno, who has been the root cause of the major problems their family is currently experiencing. In the last episode of their reality series, Alana admitted that she’s afraid of Mama June’s lover, so she’s decided to stay with Pumpkin.

“Mama, I would love to come home and stay with you — tell you about my day, but I can’t do that because I’m scared,” Alana told Mama June during their intervention. “I’m not even going to lie to you. I’m scared to stay at your house.”

Mama June is currently facing up to one year in jail after she and Geno got arrested in mid-March for drug-related charges. Geno is facing additional domestic violence charges because he allegedly threatened to kill Mama June during a dispute. Despite what happened, the two of them have remained inseparable while awaiting trial.
