Did Ivanka Trump Get A Teen Abortion? Rumors Spread On Social Media

Lauren Santo Domingo, the co-founder and Chief Brand Officer of online fashion retailer Moda Operandi, recently claimed Ivanka Trump had gone through an abortion many years ago.

In an incendiary tweet published over the weekend, Santo Domingo called out Ivanka for remaining silent following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the landmark legislation Roe v. Wade, ending women’s right to abortion care. The Moda Operandi founder also claimed Ivanka had an abortion in high school.

Santo Domingo did not offer any evidence to back her claims. Ivanka has yet to comment about her alleged abortion in high school.

Ivanka has largely avoided speaking about abortion during Donald Trump’s rise to the presidency. However, she has changed her stance toward abortion several times during her father’s presidential campaign.

In October 2020, Ivanka voiced her opposition to abortion, adding that she is “unapologetically” pro-life.

“I respect all sides of a very personal and sensitive discussion,” Ivanka said in a phone interview with RealClearPolitics. “But I am also a mother of three children, and parenthood affected me in a profound way in terms of how I think about these things.”

“I am pro-life, and unapologetically so,” she added.

In 2017, specifically in the weeks following Trump’s inauguration as president, Ivanka requested a secret meeting with Cecile Richards, the head of Planned Parenthood. At the time, Republicans were hoping to defund the organization because it provides abortion care, among other women’s health services.

“The purpose of the meeting, from Cecile’s point of view, was to make sure that Ivanka fully understood what Planned Parenthood does, how it is funded, and why it would be a terrible idea for Planned Parenthood to be removed from being able to see Medicaid patients,” Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, told POLITICO, which first reported the meeting.

Santo Domingo’s tweet about Ivanka comes after the Supreme Court on Friday ruled to uphold a Mississippi law that would ban abortion care for women who are 15 weeks pregnant. The decision also overturned a precedent set by the landmark legislation that guaranteed women the constitutional right to an abortion.
