Did Microsoft Delay Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update?
Microsoft was expected to release its Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update on Aug. 9, a week after the Redmond-based company began rolling out its Windows 10 Anniversary Update to the PC and other platforms.
Sadly, Microsoft did not deliver the mobile update yesterday, with Windows Insider Program head Dona Sarkar confirming via Twitter that the update will not arrive on Tuesday, according to GSM Arena.
Sarkar did not reveal the specifics, especially the release date of the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update, but she disclosed to a curious user that he will soon find out when the update is coming.
It isn’t clear if Microsoft intentionally delayed the release of the update, since several sources and tech sites previously pointed at Aug. 9 as the start of the update's arrival to unlocked Lumias and other Windows 10-running devices.
However, the previous reports may have been erroneous all along, since Microsoft never announced or confirmed the release of the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update this week.
In fact, MSPowerUser, the website dedicated to cover everything Microsoft, did not state or mention that the mobile update could possibly be released this week, but instead, the site simply inferred that it could be coming soon to mobile devices.
The anniversary special update is said to come with minor improvements and subtle patches to the OS because the Redmond-based company is going to release a major mobile update with the already confirmed two other Windows 10 updates next year.
Meanwhile, on the same day that the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update was expected to arrive, Microsoft rolled out a couple of cumulative updates for testers and users who have already updated their PC, laptops and Surface devices to the recently launched Windows 10 Anniversary Update, as per ZDNet.
The cumulative updates primarily addressed issues pertaining to the reduced battery life due to Cortana and Bluetooth, the reliability of Internet Explorer 11 and other software problems that were taking a toll on the performance and efficiency of the devices.
