Did Princess Diana Resent Prince Charles For Commenting On Harry’s Hair Color?
Princess Diana reportedly resented Prince Charles’ comment about Prince Harry’s hair color.
On the online forum site Quora, Sallie Smythe, a royalist and monarchist, said that she thinks the Princess of Wales did resent her ex-husband for his comments because he criticized Prince Harry’s hair color more than once. The first time was at the hospital after Princess Diana gave birth, and this was followed by the comment he made at his christening. Princess Diana eventually realized that her marriage to Prince Charles was over because of the things he said about their own child.
“She was not perfect, but the vast majority sympathized with her – she was an introverted and shy 19-year-old virgin when Charles proposed. He was an experienced man in his 30s… At 20, she was a pregnant Princess of Wales, with a husband who didn’t love her,” she wrote.
But Vivienne Claire, a reader and explorer, said that she thinks Prince Charles loved both of his sons equally. Princess Diana might have simply taken Prince Charles’ remark out of context because she was still young, immature, and naïve at that time.
Heba Kerdany, an author and a poet, said that she also didn’t think Prince Charles’ comments about Prince Harry’s hair color had any resentment in it.
“A disappointment perhaps that his son inherited more traits of his mother’s side, but that’s not resentment. How can a father resent his own son, at least not Charles since he obviously was a good father to his boys regardless of his feelings for Diana,” she said.
Princess Diana and Prince Charles welcomed Prince Harry at St. Mary’s Lindo Wing on Sept. 15, 1984. Two years earlier, Prince Charles and Princess Diana welcomed their first son, Prince William, at the same facility on June 21.
Following their children’s births, Princess Diana and Prince Charles decided to stay together. However, it was revealed that they were not happily married at that time.
