Did Selena Gomez And Justin Bieber Break Up? Fans Uncover Mysterious Tweet
Justin Bieber might admit to driving expensive cars and drinking beer, but whether or not he is newly single is left to speculation. The rumor mill is churning with word that the 18-year-old teenybopper and his former Disney star girlfriend, Selena Gomez, have broken up.
Justin Bieber fans uncovered a tweet sent by the Boyfriend singer on May 17 that read: thank you for the time i had with you but i have to move on now.. The tweet was deleted from the superstar's account quickly after it was posted, but the fansite Justin Bieber Zone caught a screenshot via iPhone before it disappeared forever.
Crushable noted that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have been apart for some time now. Gomez is currently in Bulgaria shooting The Getaway, while the Biebs has remained in the U.S. promoting his new single and planning potential collaborations with Carly Rae Jepsen and One Direction.
Bieber went solo to the 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday. When he took to the stage to accept his award for Top Social Artist, the Canadian singer gave a bit of a rambling speech, wherein he thanks his fans, Usher, his parents, God - but no mention of girlfriend Selena Gomez, reported Zap2It.
Last year, the couple attended the Billboard Music Awards together and Gomez even planted a kiss on her beau for the cameras.
In fact, Bieber and Gomez have not publicly attended an awards show together since the 2011 American Music Awards in November.
Whether or not sheer frenzy is warranted has yet to be determined. Fans of Justin and Selena, otherwise known as Jelena, have been known to be overly sensitive when it comes to the lovebirds.
What's most amusing about this is that if they were to ever break up - which is a probability considering their ages - it most likely would take place over Twitter. After all, they're teenagers; their generation grew up being encouraged (and expected) by their peers to broadcast their every emotion over social media. Why, four months ago there was a brief hubbub when Selena tweeted a pic of a flower with the caption he loves me not. Maybe it was just a whimsical tweet, but it had fans reading far more into it than she ever intended, wrote Crushable's Natalie Zutter.
Plus, we would only believe that they're broken up if it comes directly from their mouths. Judging from their styles, I think that it would be Justin who would tweet something vague and suggestive if he were to initiate the breakup; if it were Selena making that decision, we'd get a mysterious photo and a much more straightforward message. Points to whichever one of them works Never Say Never into their breakup tweet.
During his interview with GQ's Drew Magary, Bieber remained mum on the subject of Selena.
When he plays the second track, an as-yet-untitled reggae-infused love song-I just wanna be loved by youuuuu-I ask who inspired it. This time, he ducks his head shyly and stammers out, 'That one, I just wrote it.,' wrote Magary. Like every other teenager in the universe, Bieber evades questions by staring directly at the floor.
Most likely, all is just fine in paradise. But Bieber fans will surely be keeping an eye out.
